karththaavaE yuhayuhamaai

எம் துணை ஆயினீர்;

em thuNai aayineer

நீர் இன்னும் வரும் காலமாய்

neer innum varum kaalamaai

எம் நம்பிக்கை ஆவீர்

em nambikkai aaveer

உம் ஆசனத்தின் நிழலே

um aasanaththin nizhalaE

பக்தர் அடைக்கலம்

bakthar adaikkalam

உம் வன்மையுள்ள புயமே

um vanmaiyuLLa puyamaE

நிச்சய கேடகம்.

nichchaya kEdaham

பூலோகம் உருவாகியே,

poolOham uruvaahiyaE

மலைகள் தோன்றுமுன்,

malaihaL thOntrumun

சுயம்புவாய் என்றும் நீரே

suyambuvaai entrum neeraE

மாறா பராபரன்.

ஆயிரம் ஆண்டு உமக்கு

aayiram aaNdu umakku

ஓர் நாளைப் போலாமே;

Or naaLai pOlaamaE

யுகங்கள் தேவரீருக்கு

yuhangaL dEvareerukku

ஓர் இமைக்கொப்பாமே

Or imaikkoppaamaE

சாவுக்குள்ளான மானிடர்

saavukkuLLaana maanidar

நிலைக்கவே மாட்டார்;

nilaikkavaE maattaar

உலர்ந்த பூவைப்போல் அவர்

ularntha poovaip pOl avar

உதிர்ந்து போகிறார்.

இக்காட்டில் நற் சகாயராய்

ikkattil nar sahaayaraai

எம் நித்திய வீடாவீர்.

em niththiya veedaaveer

When I survey the wondrous cross

When I survey the wond'rous Cross

On which the Prince of Glory dy'd,

My richest Gain I count but Loss,

And pour Contempt on all my Pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,

Save in the Death of Christ my God:

All the vain things that charm me most,

I sacrifice them to his Blood.

See from his Head, his Hands, his Feet,

Sorrow and Love flow mingled down!

Did ever such Love and Sorrow meet?

Or Thorns compose so rich a Crown?

His dying Crimson, like a Robe,

Spreads o'er his Body on the Tree;

Then am I dead to all the Globe,

And all the Globe is dead to me.

Were the whole Realm of Nature mine,

That were a Present far too small;

Love so amazing, so divine,

Demands my Soul, my Life, my All.

O Jesus, dear, our ransom sure

Let praises sound,O Lord, to thee

From saints who by thy blood made pure

both now and through eternity
